Brehm Initiatives

We live in a visual culture – our lives are daily bombarded with imagery in print, digital media, and a multitude of other sources. The daily liturgy of our lives are shaped by what we see, and now more than ever, believers need Christian visual artists to help us disciple our eyesight. The visual arts have been an emphasis within the Brehm Center from its earliest years, with the founding of the Visual Faith initiative by Dr. William Dyrness. Honoring Dr. Dyrness’ legacy of strong curation, diverse visual arts voices, and vibrant theological engagement with visual culture; the Brehm Center relaunched Brehm Visual arts with a series of exhibitions and conversations.

Brehm Film brings together filmmakers and film-viewers, Christian leaders and laity, scholars and students for dialogue between our culture's primary stories and the Christian faith. Brehm Film programs an engaging screening schedule that runs throughout the year. We host advance screenings of big name films as well as hidden gems we find at festivals. Our screenings happen both in person in Pasadena at local theaters or in our auditorium on Fuller Seminary's campus and online.

Originally established in 2009 as the Ogilvie Institute, the vision of Brehm Preaching—A Lloyd John Ogilvie Initiative—is to proclaim Jesus Christ and to catalyze a movement of empowered, wise preachers, who seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, by nurturing prophetic community and leading others to join God’s mission in the world.

Brehm Music is close to the heart of the Brehm Center’s founding donor, William K. Brehm. A brilliant composer and pianist, he believes deeply in the integration of music and art in the worship of the church. Over the years, Brehm Music has served Fuller’s students, chapel services, and alumni in a multitude of ways. Today, the Brehm Center is reimagining the shape of this initiative, with plans to more fully engage ministry leaders, artists, and students in the future.
