Fuller Theological Seminary

Brehm Degrees + Certificates

Throughout history, the arts have mirrored cultural change and offered prophetic insights into theological understanding, and at the Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts, respected artists and theologians guide students to critically integrate theology and the arts while creatively exploring and expressing their callings.

MATS: Theology & Culture concentration

The Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts at Fuller Theological Seminary offers students the opportunity to apply a theological lens to contemporary culture, its philosophies and practices, and the challenges and opportunities it presents to effective Christian ministry and mission.

Who is this degree for?

Artists, designers, creatives

Cultural and ministry leaders in nonprofit, industry, and church contexts

Competitive Outcomes:

  • Fuller’s concentration in theology and culture is unique in that it draws upon the offerings of ethnic Centers like the Pannell Center—which offers contextualized collaboration with diverse ministries and cultural resources.

  • It also draws upon the resources of the Brehm Center including, but not limited to, film screenings, arts exhibitions, immersive arts-based courses, formational cohorts, and conferences.

  • Finally, and perhaps most uniquely, it incorporates the resources of Fuller’s School of Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy in order to consider how emotionally healthy cultural leaders might lead well in their spheres of influence.

MDiv and MATM: Worship Leadership concentration

The Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts at Fuller Theological Seminary offers students the opportunity to prepare for the role of worship leader or worship pastor through focused studies exploring the life, ministry, and worship of the church.

Who is this degree for?

Worship leaders

Worship Arts pastors

Professional musicians leading worship in churches who lack theological training.

Pastors and ministry leaders interested in incorporating the arts into their worship leadership

Competitive Outcomes:

  • Beyond a general “here’s how to lead a worship service” education, Fuller’s concentration in worship ministry is unique in that it draws upon the offerings of ethnic Centers like the Pannell Center—which offers contextualized training in leading worship in hyper-local, diverse churches.

  • It also draws upon the resources of the Brehm Center in the way it incorporates music and the arts into worship, which is a distinctive feature of studying at Fuller.

  • Finally, and perhaps most uniquely, it incorporates the resources of Fuller’s School of Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy in order to consider how emotionally healthy worship leaders might cultivate emotionally healthy congregations in and through their worship practices.
