Juneteenth / Art as Resistance, Art as Resilience: Finding Hope in Challenging Times

  • First Covenant Church Seattle 400 East Pike Street Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

Art as Resistance, Art as Resilience: Finding Hope in Challenging Times will be a time to face the terrible realities of slavery, as well as reflect how creativity can be used to confront the still present existence of this oppression with resistance and hope.

Join us on June 19th at First Covenant Church in Seattle for a two-part event comprising of:

  • A daytime guided conversation and tour of the Ai Weiwei exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum

  • An evening lecture on the work of Theaster Gates, a Black artist and activist, by our very own Dr. Maria Fee, an adjunct assistant professor of theology and culture at Fuller Seminary.
